Made in China.

Loakal Gallery will be presenting the show “Made in China" this Friday, November 8th at Ian Ross Gallery in San Francisco.  The show is the result of a group of artists having their work sent to China where painters who normally reproduce imitation masterpieces on a large scale reproduce the contemporary artist’s work.  This culminates in a meditation on not only “what is art, exactly?” but also the integrity of art.

(Artwork above by Zoltron - Original on the left - and Jessica Hess - Original on the right.)

See more below and also images of the factory where the imitation work was produced:

Adam Caldwell.

Paintings by Adam Caldwell for Thinkspace Gallery’s upcoming group show “Reflections of a New Generation" which also features work by Ekundayo and Joram Roukes.  Each artist approaches their painterly work with a lean towards the surreal.  The show opens this Saturday, July 13th.

D*Face.

Paintings by D*Face for his show, “New World Disorder,” currently up at Stolen Space Gallery in London.  The show is a “goodbye” to Stolen Space’s current location (D*Face owns the gallery) and revolves around issues of “chaos, loss and disorder” arising from social climates and war.  Parts of the show are inspired by Pat Tillman’s story, the NFL Football player who gave up his million dollar NFL contract to go fight in Afghanistan where he was killed by friendly fire and the cover up by the US Military after the fact.  Visitors are also able to venture into D*Face’s studio space for the show.  See more work below:
