I think MadMen is going to be the next show that I watch all the way through to catch up, based solely on the design of the advertising and the branding of the show. So awesome.

So I just caught the end of the latest Colbert Report. I don’t usually watch it, but it was the last couple minutes so I just stayed on the channel.
The bit he was doing included multiple artists trying to “improve” a portrait of him he had. One was Shepard Fairey, which was really awesome as he tagged the painting with a couple Obeys. But he also had Frank Stella, who I’m embarrassed to say I’ve never heard of. The reason I’m embarrassed is because he is a minimalist artist, and you know how much I love minimalism.
Anyway, a lot of his pieces don’t rely solely on the painting itself, a lot of them have odd shaped canvases. Some of them shaped as circles and half circles, other geometric shapes or jagged lines.
I might have a new influence to put on my list.
