Thierry Guetta is exactly like he is on camera in real life, and is no hoax, nor is he Banksy himself, as some have suspected.
English: He’s quirky-crazy but he’s not stupid, he’s kind of like Columbo or something.
Guetta is actually wealthy, and is not depicted this way in the film, having apparently come from a very well-off family in France. He became an associate of most of the artists simply because he owns a collection of buildings that were good for drawing on and didn’t mind them using them for street art.
"I’ve posted a couple of Kidult’s tags before, but here’s a video of him going over a Mr. Brainwash. piece in LA.
I like Kidult in a weird way, his method is obviously not very artistic by any means, but there’s just something about it that I love.
I’m amazed at the speed of it all. I guess I imagined paint spraying out of a fire extinguisher being a little slower than it is.
As Banksy art begins popping up mysteriously around Los Angeles in the days leading up to the Academy Awards, Mr. Brainwash — a.k.a. French-born Angeleno Thierry Guetta —confirms that he is as much a creation of Banksy as he is an autonomous creature.
“Banksy captured me becoming an artist,” Guetta told The Times over cigarettes and fries (of course). “In the end, I became his biggest work of art.” (He doesn’t allow whether he in fact may be Banksy, as some have suggested.)
Wait, who was it that has said MBW was a creation of Banksy? Who was that? Oh yeah, I said that. BAM.
